It’s hard to imagine the amount of money BP has wasted. To put things in perspective:
What a waste.

Look at this awesome table by Brooklyn design duo RockPaperRobot. It consists of 64 wooden cubes with magnets inside that push each other away. The only thing keeping it together are small steel wires. And you can think outside the box too. Together with the designers you can create (almost) different shapes, surface colors and functional designs. It must have been a hell of a job to get this working. Really great work!
Living in Amsterdam I know how irritating it is to have your bike stolen. Designer Kevin Scott from the UK must have had the same experience, and decided to do something about it; He turned the entire bike into one big folding lock. After pushing a lever on the side of the bike the frame becomes flexible so you can fold it around anything you want. I guess the sight of a bike folded around a pole will be enough to keep thieves at bay.

Ever felt like you deserved a medal after completing that Super Nintendo game? Felt like the world champion of Playstation? Now you can award yourself one of these smart Console Wars medals by Supermandolini. Yours for only €18,-. Good stuff!
Green surroundings make people happier. However, as many of us dwell in urban areas we don’t always have the space to get in as many plants as we would like. Thats why I like the Wall Planters by Insitu. This frame allows you to put your potted plants on the wall, so they don’t take away your scarce square meters outside. And I must say, it looks awesome too.

After yesterday’s heavy tech posts, today we’re back to the plain beautiful. Riva, the Italian producers of iconic speedboats has teamed up with designer Marc Newson to create the new version their Aquariva model.
The changes are subtile but innovative. Composite materials, in the shape of extremely durable wood-like laminates cover the deck area instead of traditional mahogany wood. And in stead of stainless steel anodized aluminum is used, making the design a little more sleek overall. Subtle but striking.
Newson also took care of the interior of the boat, giving it his signature style while preserving the Riva quality, look and feel. A job well done. Only 22 will be available from September 2010. Start saving up!
Ping pong is cool. We already knew that. What makes it even cooler is this table by Puma. The chalkboard surface allows players to keep track of the score, claim the next game or provoke opponents with a little written propaganda. Furthermore, the compartment underneath safely stores beverages and party favors. Drinking and playing has never been this easy. I know certain ad-agencies where the ping-pong table occasionally also serves as desk and bar, this will come in very handy. Besides this, this mat black finish looks amazing.
And it will be available through The Conran Shop for ‘only’ $3.900,-. Awesome.
Although Lost might have ended, it is still keeping the fans busy with all sorts of complex theories etc. on what might have been the idea behind the show. I am not going to bother you with that kind of stuff, as there are far more fun things being made. Like ‘If TV’s LOST was a 1987 point-and-click computer game’ illustration by Penney Design. Check all of them out below. Hilarious!
Thanks for the link BenOskar.
But as you can see this is what I have been enjoying. Things will be back to normal next week!
