FrogDesign, is an international innovation and industrial design firm. Not long ago they launched frogMob. This site proposes a generic design problem to which the audience can respond with their solutions. This results in a gallery of user-submitted solutions. So far the problems featured include creative, fixes for power-cord organization and work bicycle customization.
Uploaded everywhere from Shanghai to Seattle, the shared images highlight how global communication around a seemingly small, but universal problem can highlight a potential need for innovation. And the simplicity of all these solutions is striking. Just look at the picture above! Awesome project.
Here’s another one of those simple online apps that are so much fun: Wordle. Wordle lets you created wordcloud in a really simple way. You can enter the text yourself on the site, enter a URL for a site or have it read out your Delicious account. After that you can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. Really smart and besides the fact that it is good fun, it is also a handy tool for a presentation or so. Love it!
Here’s another smart campaign using Google AdWords. This time Converse takes advantage of the smart ad system in their Domaination campaign. Check out the movie below.
As You know, I have a weak spot for Polaroid pictures. Thats why I like No Balls, No Glory; A Polaroid Story that much. Ouni decided one day that she wanted to go out and shoot great artists on her Polaroid cam. And has she succeeded. Among the faces on her blog are Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg and Mos Def. The cool thing is that every Polaroid has a story, which she shares with us. A bit heavy on text, but this gives the pictures so much more meaning. This is what sets her blog apart from all the other snapshot blogs. Love it. Go check it out here.
This is one of those ‘wouldn’t it be cool…’ things that come up while drinking in a bar with your friends. The only difference is this is really going to happen, if it is up to the guys at the TS2AS Foundation.
The foundation is setting out to crowdsource enough money to buy up every single billboard on Times Square and turn it into a square filled with art. By far the coolest exhibition space ever. Pretty ambitious, but oh so cool. I definitely hope they’ll succeed. Help spread the word and donate if you please. Just go here for more info.

Two twelve year old New York kids and huge basketball fans, Jason and Corey Grant have turned social media to convince the NY Knicks to get LeBron James to join them. Poke NY has helped them create a very smart online and offline campaign. The idea is pretty simple. You just hit the NYheartLeBron button, whether this is on the website, by tweeting #NY<3LEBRON or hitting one of the #NY<3LEBRON buttons (find them here) in real life.
At the moment I am writing this, the button has been hit 1.284.411 times. I guess we can call this a success! Awesome idea and dito execution. Now lets see whether Lebron will sign up, to become the first social media scouted player in the NBA.
The typeface you choose says a lot about who you are. But what typeface are you? To solve this question the people at Pentagram have created the very smart application entitled What Type Are You? By answering four simple questions about your personality, the psychologist selects what typeface suits you.
After a chat with the psychologist it turns out that I am Dot Matrix. What type are you?
The Royal Dutch Library has made its newspaper archive since 1618 available online. Over 1 million pages, spanning 4 centuries of news available for free, making it one of the largest online newspaper databases. I love browsing through databases like these. All these old articles, pictures and ad’s. Amazing.
However, the site is being developed, so forgive the occasional bug or server overload. Besides the enormous amount of work already delivered, they are working hard to expand the database, which has to consist of approximately 7 million pages in 2012. This will reassure its position among the larger database of newspapers. These guys have done a hell of a job, and still have a long way to go. A great initiative. Especially because it is available for free.
One of the major issues I have with Twitter is the enormous amount of bullsh*t tweets people post. They just clutter and cause interesting tweets to go by unnoticed. One thing is to unfollow these people, but that way they’ll never learn. In comes Noobtweet, Twitter’s evil twin.
With noobtweet you can let people anonymously know that they are bothering/boring you with useless tweets. Tweeting is micro-blogging, Noobtweet can be called micro-commenting. Get the Tweet ID and enter your comment via Noobtweet. The one you ‘Noobtweet’ will receive a mention in which is stated that he has been Noobtweeted, with a link to the comment.
I am already looking forward to the ‘Noobtweet 100′ of the most useless Twitter users! Let the bashing begin!!
