Great ad for the Mini Clubman, the larger brother of the Mini. The coolest thing is, the concept came from two students at the Miami Ad School, Maximilian Pinegger and Justin Salice-Stephan. Great work.

Wallets: the smaller the better if you ask me. And the Recycled Wallet by Holstee seems to be just that. Besides it practicality, this wallet is made out of plastic bags and newspapers collected on the streets of Delhi. To complete the ‘greenness’ of this product the guys at Holstee have also partnered up with a local Indian NGO that helps impoverished people.

Arcade Fire is taking video clips to the next level. I think this video for their track The Wilderness Downtown is one of the most creative music videos I’ve ever seen. And even the track is pretty good.

Entirely built in HTML5 and built for Google Chrome, it shows an entirely new of making music videos. If you haven’t done it yet, see for yourself. Just enter the adress of where you grew up and enjoy!

Another movie on how Facebook can change your life. Story: In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel’s brother, Nev. Nev met a girl, Megan, online and they seemed to have something going. They had no idea that their project would lead to the most unsettling months of their lives.

I get a huge Blair Witch Project vibe here. Not sure what to think about it. Seems somewhat interesting. What do you think?

In a theatre near you this fall.

Zack Snyder, the director who also brought you 300 and Watchmen has another visual marvel coming our way. Sucker Punch is an  action fantasy movie that takes us into the imaginary world of a young girl. This dream world provides the ultimate escape from her not so bright reality. “Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, but her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary… with potentially tragic consequences.”

Visually it looks like this is going to be a treat. Incredible graphics and I love the 1950’s retro-futuristic style. Let’s hope the story is any good and we have a winner!

In theaters in March 2011.

Quite some time ago I posted on a contest by Hermes and Designboom. As you may or may not remember, the French luxury fashion giant was going to crowdsource new designs for ties through the community of Designboom. The winning design is called ‘Modern Leisure’ and was designed by Heidi Mueller. This will actually be produced. Pretty cool to have a Hermes tie design in your portfolio. Here’s some other prize winners:

FrogDesign, is an international innovation and industrial design firm. Not long ago they launched frogMob. This site proposes a generic design problem to which the audience can respond with their solutions. This results in a gallery of user-submitted  solutions. So far the problems featured include creative, fixes for power-cord organization and work bicycle customization.

Uploaded everywhere from Shanghai to Seattle, the shared images highlight how global communication around a seemingly small, but universal problem can highlight a potential need for innovation. And the simplicity of all these solutions is striking. Just look at the picture above! Awesome project.

Freakonomics is one of my favorite books ever. The authors Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner use economic models to explain  things like why most drug dealers still live with their moms and what the similarities are between school teachers and sumo wrestlers. A must read.

And now its turned into a movie, and not by the least. The people making this movie are also the people behind Supersize Me, Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room, Jesus Camp and The King Of Kong. Which all happen to be among my favorite documentaries ever. Lots of favorites! Let’s just hope it doesn’t suffer from the ‘The book was so much better syndrome’.
