A big part of the visual identity of SnappCar are the two little creatures from the logo, the Snappies. As part of making the identity of SnappCar more appealing and more consistent I have taken the Snappies and ‘brought them to life’ by giving these illustrations a more prominent role in the visual communications.
Before I took over, the Snappies where part of the logo but hardly used in other places. This was a shame, as research proved they where loved by our users. Furthermore, the 2D style is relatively easy to master and easy to work into all content created. Therefore I have taken the little creatures from the logo and placed them in all kinds of situations relating to the content they where used to illustrate.
I created a toolkit with basic images that can be used to easily generate a range of Snappies, that all look consistent. You can compare it to Mr. Potatohead style selection of facial expressions, hats, clothes and other accessories. Now someone with limited knowledge of Adobe CS can easily create good looking images.
This resulted in a broad range of illustrations that decorated our content. From internal communication to Facebook images, the Snappies took over with success. This resulted in a more consistent look and feel throughout all our communication, making the SnappCar brand more recognisable.
