The Royal Dutch Library has made its newspaper archive since 1618 available online. Over 1 million pages, spanning 4 centuries of news available for free, making it one of the largest online newspaper databases. I love browsing through databases like these. All these old articles, pictures and ad’s. Amazing.
However, the site is being developed, so forgive the occasional bug or server overload. Besides the enormous amount of work already delivered, they are working hard to expand the database, which has to consist of approximately 7 million pages in 2012. This will reassure its position among the larger database of newspapers. These guys have done a hell of a job, and still have a long way to go. A great initiative. Especially because it is available for free.
Go check it out here, and happy browsing.
