Frustrating isn’t it? It should feel and sound good, must not be already used by someone else, should have the potential to become a brand, and preferably with as little Google search results as possible. Fear no more! Wordoid is here.

Wordoids are words that are made-up, but sound right. They follow the rules of phonetics, and if done properly, roll off the tongue. And now there is Wordoid.com which helps you create these little gems that will help you create a name or simply inspire you.

Just choose one or more languages, select the preferred quality level, type in a fragment you would like the wordoids to contain, and press Create. And there it is, the name you couldn’t come up with. The cool thing is that it checks the availability of the domain name right away too and shows you how much it turns up on Google. A one-stop-shop for all your naming needs.

All in all it is an amazing overview. Just type in Einstein and see how he was argued against in 1922, or how it was though that an amazing hoop would be the car of the future.
Google, the company which on it’s own has revolutionized the way advertising works, is now switching to old school TV ads… This ad below will be aired during the Superbowl tonight:

I must say I like the ad, but one question pops into my mind and keeps getting louder: Why is the company that is partly responsible for killing old advertising models going to air a TV ad for tons of money when every American is taking a piss or grabbing some fresh drinks? Isn’t it a bit like Bill Gates using an iPhone? What do you think?

For all you nerds out there: There is a new search engine in town! Wolfram Alpha is a new search engine, which answers your question straight away, instead of giving us the links as Google does. Therefore it is positioned somewhere between Google and Wikipedia. You type your question and it (supposedly) comes up with a relevant answer. Pretty cool.

For now it sort of looks like a dressed up beta-version but it is very good for gathering hard data like population numbers, time zones etc. Howeverm as soon as you ask more subjective questions it stumbles leaving a lot of questions unanswered (e.g. who is subtielman? Crazy!) I sort of believe this will have its rightful place in the world of search, as the database will continue to grow over time.
