Fate

Here’s a nice ad from called Fate. I’m absolutely not into American Football / NFL, but I like the concept of this ad. You see two players from birth until the moment their paths cross on the pitch. Well shot add, with some great music. What also makes it great is that it always is challenge for a director to put two lives from birth, to, lets say 25/ 30 years old in a 1 minute ad, and keep it credible. Very well done, but what do you expect from an A-class director?

Unsurprisingly, the concept comes from Wieden & Kennedy, and was directed by David Fincher. World class Fincher is best known from a bunch of quality movies including Seven, The Game and Fight Club. The music adding to the strength of the ad is called “The Ecstasy of Gold” from the legendary movie “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.”

I wonder how Nike is going to support his comeback this year… Here is one of the older ones, made by W+K (offcourse). I think it is from 2004 (but please correct me if I’m wrong!). Somehow it catches me, and makes me want to jump on my bike and just ride!

Enjoy!

Bo Knows even more!

And here is the second commercial, that followed after the first one in 1990 on the first “Bo Knows…” ad.

Bo Knows

Time for a classic! Who doesnt know Bo? In 1989 and 1990 Nike ran a series of commercials featuring Bo Jackson. Jackson was the first, and as far as I know only, athlete to be a professional Baseball player and a professional (American) Football player in one year.

Perfect material for Nike to use him as the spokesperson for the cross-training shoes. Wieden and Kennedy came up with the commercial which is considered as one of Nike’s classic campaigns. The sentence “Bo Knows…” became very popular, and was used for all sorts of occasions and products, not always Nike related.

This is the first ad from 1989:

As part of the “Here I Am” campaign for Nike Women, one of Nike’s advertising agencies, Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam, has asked 5 directors to create a movie focused on an Nike athlete. I must say, these movies are great to see! I especially like the Nicola Sanders one, but check them all below by clicking the links below!
